Sherye Green is in her eighth year at Jackson
Prep. Currently she teaches eighth grade American History. She
has also taught seventh grade World Geography. For two years,
she served as the Junior High Counselor. She has served as a sponsor
of YMCA Youth Legislature, coordinated orientation for new students,
and is currently the co-sponsor of the Junior High Student Council.
Sherye is a 1977 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School.
A 1981 graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree
in marketing, she enjoyed a fifteen-year career in business. Various work
experiences ranging from working in the petroleum industry to a pediatric
dental practice to handling public relations for a Chamber of Commerce
provided her with a broad depth of knowledge to bring to the classroom.
Pursuing a lifelong interest in working with youth, Sherye
returned to school in 1995 to receive her teacher certification. Sherye
and her husband, Mark (Prep '75), have two children: Mark (Prep '02) and
Lauren, a Prep junior.
In her spare time Sherye enjoys freelance writing, needlework
of all kinds, reading, and walking.
