“Trust God and love people,” is advice shared
by my parents that provides the base for daily living. The eldest
of four, I was born in Denver, Colorado and lived in Chicago,
Illinois as a child. When I entered the fifth grade my family
moved to Nashville, Tennessee where we remained until my senior
year in high school. At that time my dad took a position in Union
City, Tennessee, where my family lived for thirty-five years.
The transition to a new school my senior year was a major adjustment,
which has served me well in the changes I have encountered since
that time.
I received my BS in Social Sciences with education certification
from Memphis University. I earned my MEd. in Counseling and later earned
additional graduate certification in administration from Mississippi College.
My initial teaching experience was in North Little Rock, Arkansas. When
Jackson Preparatory School began, I taught seventh and eleventh grade
social studies. In addition to my current responsibilities I have served
Prep as teacher, department chair, counselor, and junior high principal.
My son, Michael, and his wife, Rebecca, live in Princeton,
New Jersey. She is an English teacher and he is in the doctoral program
at Princeton University. He also has the opportunity to work with George
Gallup, Jr. and teach in the area. Because of their location and interest
in visiting all the world capitals, I spend many holidays traveling. In
time away from school I have the opportunity to care for my mother, who
lives at Heritage House, and visit with Cameron and Josh (1992 JP graduate)
Huff and their triplets.
