Admissions
Test Dates

Admission tests are given at Jackson Prep by individual appointment. Contact Lesley Morton at 601.939.8611 to schedule a testing appointment.

Admission priority will be given to students who complete admission steps by December 13, 2007. Acceptance packets will be mailed after December 17, 2007 , with registration due February 1, 2008.

Contact Lesley Morton, Director of Admission if you have any questions regarding this process. lmorton@jacksonprep.net (601) 932-8106, ext. 1

If additional testing or information is needed, parents will be notified 2 weeks after the initial admission testing.

The test is administered in the McRae Building. If the admission test indicates that more information is needed, the parent will be contacted. A request may be made by Jackson Prep at that time for other standardized test scores, report cards, and other relevant information. The Admissions Office may recommend further testing by the school psychometrist. Some admission test scores may be used for course placement.

Jackson Preparatory School admits applicants who score in the average to above average range on the admission test and who demonstrate a positive attitude, appropriate behavior and solid classroom performance .

Getting to know each student is important to us at Jackson Prep. For students entering after grade seven, a school visit is strongly encouraged. The Admissions Office will coordinate the visit so a prospective student can observe a school day at Jackson Prep, take the admission tests, and meet the principal and counselor.

Applicant Pool
In order to continue offering the finest education possible in the state, particular attention must be paid to class size. Once a class has reached capacity, qualified applicants are placed in an applicant pool. When a space becomes available, the Admissions Committee considers all the applicants in the applicant pool to determine which applicant(s) will be accepted. The committee looks at a number of factors: class size, boy/girl ratio, course selection, as well as the student’s academic record and admission test scores.
