PREP JUNIOR HIGH SHOWCHOIR
PREP SINGERS/REVEILLON
The Prep Singers have been a part of the legacy at Jackson Prep for 38 years. This high school choir of talented students exists as a concert choir, chorus members for the annual musical, and also as a showchoir.
The Prep Singers will participate in the musical, Wizard of Oz in November as Ozians and other principal characters. They will also present a Candlelight Christmas Concert at Northminster Baptist Church in December. The Prep Singers will entertain for a Christmas extravaganza for Blair Batson Hospital in December as well as other community performances.
The Prep Singers will also participate in the Mississippi All-State Honor Choir and Honor Showchoir in the spring. Students will audition for the honor choir in January and the ACDA convention is in April at Galloway Methodist Church. Choral Directors from all over the state meet to discuss music issues in the schools as well as hearing clinicians. The honor choir members prepare their selections with other members from across the state and present a concert on the last day.
For the first time, PREP SINGERS will participate in SHOWCHOIR Competitions in February and March. The showchoir is proud to have a nationally known choreographer and arranger to produce the competition show. Showchoir costumes and sets as well as a live-band made up of students will present their competition show in three competitions this spring. They will also culminate this season with an end of the year SHOWCHOIR SHOWCASE in March which will feature the senior choral students and the high school showchoir and the junior high showchoir.
Auditions for this ensemble will be in the spring.
PREP JUNIOR SINGERS
The Prep Junior Singers is the junior high level choir of 38 students this year. These 7th-8th graders are the feeder program for the high school choir. This choir also exists in several capacities. The junior singers are a concert choir, they are also in the annual musical, and they also exist as a showchoir.
The junior high choir will have a significant role in the Wizard of Oz this year as the Munchkins. They will feature colorful costumes and creative choreography. They will also present the Candlelight Christmas concert with the high school choir at Northminster Baptist Church in December. The junior high choir will also be a showchoir.
The junior high showchoir will present its competition show at three competitions in February. Their choreographer is nationally known and is from Wisconsin. Their show will consist of beautiful costumes and cool choreography.
This junior high choir is a performance based choir and along the way music techniques, vocal techniques, and theory are also learned.
