Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tells the story of "Goin' Courtin'" in this stage version of the popular MGM movie, adapted by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay. Milly is a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness who plans
to civilize and marry off her six unruly brothers-in-law to ensure the
success of her own marriage. The brothers go on to kidnap six women With new songs by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn added to a melody-drenched classic film score by Johnny Mercer and Gene de Paul, the musical includes wistful ballads, charming comic turns and rousing showstopping dances. DRAMA PERFORMANCE I is designed for any level drama student in grades ten through twelve. Students learn the elements of drama, including theatre history, theory, and criticism. Acting, directing and stagecraft are studied. Students rehearse and perform monologues, scenes and a one-act play. DRAMA PERFORMANCE II reinforces the elements of drama while advancing skills learned in acting, directing, and stagecraft. Students have the opportunity to pursue individual interests and develop individual skills. The course is designed for the student who has successfully completed Drama Performance I.
