Prep’s Sixth Grade Program brings enthusiasm to Jackson Prep. The students have their core academic subjects taught in classrooms atop the McRae Administration Building, giving them a level of independence from the schedule of the upper grades. Parents who are looking for a smaller and carefully structured way to phase their children into the enhanced expectations of the Prep curriculum would do well to investigate our Sixth Grade Program for their children. Enrollment in the Sixth Grade is limited.
Sixth grade students are enrolled in the following classes:
• Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Exploratory Studies – Fine Arts (Drama, Band, Visual Arts) Computer
• Health/Physical Educaction and Athletic Programs for grade six are designed to provide experiences and skill development in a variety of activities and to develop overall physical fitness. Sixth grade boys have a football schedule, and sixth grade girls an accompanying pep squad opportunity. Fundamentals of basketball and track are included in the P.E. program.
Sixth graders begin their day earlier than the rest of the school to facilitate their independence. Their first class begins at 8:00 a.m. and the last class ends at 2:30 p.m. An After-School Program is available to those who are interested.
