JACKSON PREP PAT REPORT
January 17th, 2008
I. Welcome – Lisa Lamb
II.
Devotion – Melissa Ridgway
III. Student Life Report – Reta Haire
- Door Locks – The
biggest adjustment for our students has been the new door locks. One
challenge they have is where to wear their badge. Although there have been
some complaints, the new door locks are working well. The parents are
asked to encourage their children to understand the door locks are for
their protection.
- Spring Semester – This
time of the year is very busy at Jackson Prep. Just to name a few;
sporting events, conventions, achievement test, garage sale, prom, mock
trials, and the school musical. The best way to stay informed about
upcoming events is to check the web site.
- Testing - The 7th
graders who qualified to take the ACT/ SAT will attend a workshop provided
by the faculty at Jackson Prep. The 8th graders will be taking
achievement test on January 30th. The 9th graders
will be taking the PSSS on January 29th.
- Eight graders- In
February the 8th graders fill out their class schedules for
next year. In the 9th grade the students GPA is calculated. For
more information on this, parents are encouraged to attend a meeting at
7:00 this evening.
- Ninth graders –They
also fill out schedules in February. Parents should go over the required
courses needed to graduate. If you are not sure of the requirements, look
on the Jackson Prep web site.
- World Language
Emphasis Week – Next week each language that is taught at Jackson Prep
will be emphasized. There will food, decorations and information about
each class. This will be an excellent opportunity for the upcoming 9th
graders. Hopefully, this information could help in their decision in
regards as to which language they would like to select for next year.
- Summer School –
Brochures about Jackson Prep’s summer activities have been sent in the
mail. We were reminded to be sure to register early because the classes
often fill up fast.
BUSINESS – Lisa Lamb
- The request to add a
new traffic lane was denied, but 10 seconds will be added to the light
cycle.
- WLBT is asking for
Sunshine Teacher Award nominations. Visit their web site or call the
station if you like to submit a nomination.
- Teacher Bonuses- We
were pleased to give our teachers a nice bonus. We were able to almost
double what they had received in the past. Lisa shared with us a few of
the thank you notes she had received from the teachers.
- Community Service –
Mission First will be our community service project this year. Mission
First serves the West Park neighborhood. Their main purpose is to share
the gospel. They provide dental care, education for the children and various
other ministries that are needed. Proceeds from the garage sale will also
be given to this ministry.
- Treasurer’s Report –
Amanda reminded us that we need to fill out a form when a reimbursement is
requested. She assured us that she will try to return the money requested
as soon as possible.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
- PAT Fundraiser – Terri
Courtney will be in charge of this year’s fundraiser. A Celebrity Dinner
will be held April 3rd at the Mississippi Crafts Guild building

project, contact Terri Courtney. Check the web site for more information.

great success. Over 160 people attended. Thanks were given to Melanie
Milner, Jana Barazza, and Amy McGowen for covering Prep Preview Nov.2nd
and Jan. 16th.
- Hoops and Scoops –
This will be held January 25th during the PCS basketball game.
It will begin at 4:00. There will be food, decorations and ice-cream.

their parents with them.
