Jackson Prep PAT Meeting

October 3, 2007

Welcome – Lisa Lamb

Devotion – Melissa Ridgeway  ----  “Be a Good Listener”

Head of School – Susan Lindsay

·        Expressed thanks for the recognition she received at the last PAT meeting. She thanked the PAT for all their hard work and time they give to the school.

·        Construction – She wants us to be aware of the trucks that will be coming in and around the school. Also, the possibility of water and electrical problems may occur because they do not have maps to indicate where utility and water lines are located.

·        Annuals. The 2006-07 annuals have arrived. They will be passed out on Tuesday. Last year seniors may get their annuals on Wednesday.

·        Street Sign – Just a reminder that they are well aware of the incorrect information that sometimes appears on the street sign. She assured us that everything possible is being done to correct this problem.

·        Communication – Like to have Prep Notes online. Looking at different ways to get information out to help parents stay informed and involved. Mrs. Lindsay discussed several things they have learned about sending e-mails. Most importantly, all e-mails that are from JP must be approved. If an e-mail is grade-related it needs to be approved by the principal. If the e-mail affects the whole school it needs to be reviewed by Vicki King. This will enable the school to avoid misinformation that can quickly spread to parents and students.

 Reta Haire – Faculty Liaison

·        Homecoming update. The activities for homecoming week are in place. Each day of the week has a different holiday theme. The student council has put in many hours of hard work. She encouraged us to acknowledge these students and thank them for all they have done to make our homecoming week such a success.

·        Weekly activities: A few of these activities will include a  heart swapping game, wearing holiday clothing, pie eating contest, pumpkin decorating, pictures with Santa and a field day

·        Friday - students will wear their homecoming t-shirt. The pep rally will be at 10:55.  Prep will play Hillcrest at 7:00. The 8th and 9th grade dance will be held at the Patriot center from 9:00 – 11:00. The Sr. High dance will be from 11:00 – 1:30 at the Ag. Museum. They will not be serving breakfast at the dance this year.

Lesley Morton – Director of Admissions

·        Mrs. Morton will have three Prep Preview days. The first will be on Oct. 9 at 9:30. She sends letters to prospective 4th, 5th and 6th graders informing them of events that would be of interest to them. She encourages the families to visit the campus on a regular class day so that they can get a real feel for the school. On Friday November 2, Prep preview will be held from 5 – 7. The students and their parents will be invited to attend the high school football game (Prep vs. MRA) following a tour of the campus.
