*JH Cheerleader Clinic and tryouts *NOTE NEW DATES*- Feb. 28-Mar. 2; mock tryouts on Mar. 1; and tryouts before the judges on March 2.

*Fusion will be dismissed at 1:30 today for their competition at William Carey

*Valentine carnation sales begin today! Place your order for a friend in the SH foyer before school or during activity period.

 *JH students needing a Proof of School Attendance Form for a permit or drivers license this week, please see Mrs. Jenkins in the SH Office.

*Anyone interested in working on this year’s literary magazine should see Mrs. Campbell in room 220 by Friday, Feb. 10, to sign up.  Most of the work will be done during Homeroom- Directed Study.

GENERAL INFORMATION

*Varsity Cheer Tryout: All cheerleader recommendations and signed permission forms are due by this Monday, February 6.  Turn in to Sr. High office or give to Mrs. Flint.

* All Jr. High Homeroom Teachers- Check your mailbox in the JH lounge for the daily tally sheets for the ROAR book drive.  If you don’t find any or happen to misplace yours, more will available in room 217.

*ROAR!  The Reach Out and Read(ROAR) book drive has begun.  Please bring NEW children’s books for the Eli Manning Clinics for Children.  The books will be given to children between the ages of 6 months to 5 years.  Share with other children some of your favorite books from your younger years.  In addition to books in English, there is a need for children’s books that have been published in Spanish and Arabic.  The class that has collected the most books/capita will be declared the winner.  The winning class will get to deliver the books and be given a guided tour of the Eli Manning Clinics for Children during activity period and directed study one day.  You’ll return to campus for a Chick-Fil-A lunch.  Yum! Books will be collected daily from February 2- February 10.

*Another way to win!  As part of the ROAR book drive, share your favorite book with others.  Write your name and the title of your favorite book on the poster in the front foyer of the JH.  At the end of the book drive, one of the names will be drawn at random and the winner will receive a $25 gift card to our local bookstore, Lemuria.

*Skirt and Skort Checks: In order to monitor skirt lengths, all junior high girls, grades 7-9, should begin their school day in the junior high building, even if their first period class is in the senior high. Days to measure skirts will be unannounced.

*Prep Garage Sale, March 3 – Clean out closets. Keep clothing on hangers  and wrap shoes in rubberbands & leave items in SH foyer. Pick up tax deduction receipts in SH Office. Need heavy items picked up? Call Cheryl Renfrow at 601-940-4825, or email her at cat919395@aol.com  or Julie Wooley at 601-573-5580, or email her at jjwooley@att.net to schedule pickup. Donations are being accepted in the SH foyer.

*Honors Information Meeting,Tuesday, Feb.14th at 3:15 in the Lyceum for all students and parents who are interested in learning about the honors application process.  Current 7th graders may apply for Honors Math for their 8th grade year.  Current 8th graders may apply for Honors English and Honors Science programs for their 9th grade year.  Department chairs will discuss their curricula and application process according to the following schedule: 3:15-3:30 –Laura Lindell- Math; 3:30-3:45-Marsha Hobbs- Science; 3:45-4:00 Anna Freundt- English.

*Junior High Girls interested in applying for a position on the teen advisory board of a new local magazine, “Real Girl Magazine,” should see Mrs. Haire in the office for an application and more information about the magazine.  Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 17.

*Any 7th, 8th, or 9th Grade Student interested in attending the Ole Miss Summer Academy needs to see Mrs. Watson.  The Summer Academy is a great introduction to the college environment and allows academically talented students the opportunity to take advanced courses.  The deadline for applications is May 1, 2012.

*Spirit Team members uniforms were due to Mrs. Welch yesterday!!!  Please turn your uniform in ASAP!

*ATTENTION TEACHERS,FACULTY & STAFF-USA Express Car Wash next door to Prep has donated a coupon for a free car wash for each of you!  Please see Kay Robinson in the JH office for your coupon.

The Community Service Club is collecting coats for the Good Morning America, “Warm Coats, Warm Hearts” coat drive.  We are helping them to reach their goal of donating 1 million coats!  Please bring your lightly used coat, Wednesday morning, Feb. 8th.  Coats only, no sweaters, please.  Coats will only be collected this ONE DAY,BEFORE SCHOOL in the Jr. High and Sr. High foyers.
