*Ninth grade Class Day practice today.  Dismiss students at 1:45 to go quietly to the auditorium. Practice will last approx. an hour.  Class t-shirts will be placed in 9th grade student lockers Thursday.  ONLY 9th graders may wear their class t-shirt and jeans (no holes or tears) on the half day of school before exams – May 15.

 

*Ninth Grade Class Day/Honors Program - Friday, May 9, at 9:00 in the Fortenberry Auditorium

·         Parents and siblings of 9th graders are invited

·         All 9th graders are to report to their 1st period for roll check – very important to be there on time

·         Students will walk quietly with their teachers to the gym for line up

·         Boys are to wear a tie, dress shirt, dress shoes, and slacks

·         Girls are to wear Sunday/church attire - no bear shoulders or spaghetti straps; length of dress or skirt should be within the Prep dress code guidelines

·         Pictures will be taken after program

·         Reception to follow in the courtyard. Afterwards,  9th grade students will be dismissed from school for the remainder of the day to attend special events planned for them

 

*JH Student Council End of the Year Party on Thurs., May 15, after the 12:30 dismissal, at the picnic tables by the auditorium.  Lunch will be served.

 

*Eighth grader Ariel Cheng is competing in the National MathCounts Tournament in Denver, CO, today and Friday.

 

*MS Sports Medicine will be offering free physicals at the Trade Mart on Sat., May 10, to all athletes or anyone who plans on participating in Jackson Prep’s sports. Those who plan to attend must arrive at 7:00 a.m. with a physical form that is filled out and signed by a parent. If there are any questions, please call the athletic department.

 

*Eighth Grade Honors Forum, Tues., May 13, in the auditorium at 10:55; parents and siblings are invited

*Eighth Grade Study Break Party, Friday, May 16, 3:00-4:30, at Christ United Methodist Church Gym – food provided – no charge. Return permission slipsto the JH office

 

*Seventh Grade Honors Forum, Wed., Mary 14, in the auditorium at 10:55; parents and siblings are invited

 

*LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED today from 8:15 – 11:15 because of an AP Exam.  During that time, students may enter silently to pay fines or return books.  Library will reopen after 11:15.

*LIBRARY obligations are now OVERDUE.  If you have an overdue book, a fine, or an I.O.U., please tend to it TODAY!  Students who have not cleared their accounts in the library will not be allowed to take their exams.

 

*Swap Shop Uniform Resale – Parents - information and instructions can be found on the Prep Website under the "Parents" tab.  Please print the forms and instructions if you plan to participate. The Annual Swap shop turn in date is Monday, May 19. and the sale is Tuesday, May 20.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

*The American Red Cross Auxiliary needs volunteers to help man tables at local area merchants in Brandon to sell Sonic Gift cards as a fundraiser fro the American Red Cross this Saturday, May 10.    They will also need volunteers through the month of June.  If you are interested and want more information, please contact Ms. Sue Spitchley at susus@bellsouth.net

*Varsity baseball State semi-finals game #2 at JA today at 6:00 – come out and support your team!

*Fast pitch softball practice today at 3:15

*Tennis – AAA State Tournament – congratulations to the boys and girls team for winning State!
