Prep has produced 486 National Merit Semifinalists, more than any other
private or public school in the state. Prep’s Class of 2008 has
15 Semifinalists and 2 Commended Scholars.
Prep is one of only four schools in the state to have a chapter of
the Cum Laude Society, founded in 1906 as the high school equivalent
of Phi Beta Kappa.
Prep offers the only Classical Heritage Diploma in the state. Prep
is one of the few schools in the South that offers Greek language and
classical studies.
In 2006-07, Prep athletic teams won 7 state championships. Prep’s
Class of 2007 received scholarship offers totaling $6.6 million; 68%
of the class accepted merit-based scholarships totaling $2.5 million.
Prep’s student body comes from over 20 different feeder schools,
making Prep one of the most geographically diverse schools in the state.
Prep maintains a 95% student retention rate.
The mean ACT score for the Prep Class of 2007 was 25.6, well above
the national average of 21.2 and the Mississippi average of 18.9.
24% of Prep’s Class of 2007 qualified for the Mississippi Eminent
Scholars Grant, which requires an ACT score of 29 and a 3.5 GPA.
Prep’s faculty/staff is comprised of more than 100 dedicated
and experienced professionals; over 50% of whom have earned post-graduate
degrees. Six faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees.
