Greetings, Prep Family!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Jackson Prep’s website. At Jackson Prep, we strive for “excellence without exception.” Our Mission Statement provides “Jackson Preparatory School inspires and challenges students toward academic, athletic and artistic excellence, instills personal integrity through biblical values, and equips students to pursue lives of distinction in service to society.” The entire Prep family - our faculty, students, parents, alumni - takes pride in applying this “excellence without exception” to every aspect of the school on a daily basis.
As an alumnus of Jackson Prep, I understand the impact Prep has on its students. Prep was a singular experience for me during my formative years. My Prep education, both inside and outside of the classroom, prepared me for my future academic, professional and personal pursuits. At Jackson Prep we strive to prepare the student not just for his or her future academic career but for life. It is my hope that Jackson Prep will one day mean as much to every student as it has to me.
As you examine this website, I believe you will find that Jackson Prep is passionate about the personal development of our students and the opportunities they have to excel in academics, the arts, and athletics. You will also find that Prep is an engaging environment devoted to fully developing young men and women intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

About Lawrence Coco
Prior to becoming Head of School, Lawrence Coco experienced virtually every aspect of Jackson Prep. Mr. Coco graduated from Jackson Prep in 1992. He attended the University of Mississippi, receiving a B.A. in both English and History. After graduation, Mr. Coco worked at Jackson Prep as an American Literature and World History teacher, assistant High School Principal, and football and track coach. Mr. Coco received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001, and began practicing law in the Jackson metro area.
During his legal career, Mr. Coco remained extensively involved in Jackson Prep. Mr. Coco served on the Jackson Prep Alumni Council from 2004 to 2008, serving as President in his last year. From 2010 to 2016, Mr. Coco was honored to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees, serving on the Executive Committee as the Secretary to the Board from 2013 to 2016.
Mr. Coco and his wife, Rebecca (Thomas - Jackson Prep Class of 1992), have three children - Mary Robinson, Thomas, and Edward. They reside in Jackson, Mississippi.
In 2018, Mr. Coco was named Head of School at Jackson Prep.
