Spanish @ Salamanca
For three weeks every other summer, Jackson Prep Spanish students travel to Spain to participate in a study abroad program at the University of Salamanca.
Salamanca is home to the oldest and most prestigious university in Spain and is an ideal place to study abroad. Originally a fortified Roman camp, Salamanca is one of the most magnificent Renaissance cities in Europe; it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. Students live with Spanish host families for the two-week program and attend classes at the university each day and explore the city and surrounding areas in the afternoon, evenings and weekends. On the first day of class, students are administered a language level placement test by the university. Classes are taught by university professors and schedules are confirmed upon language level placement. College credit is earned by the students upon completion of the program.
