Visiting Writers Series

The Jackson Prep Visiting Writer’s Series was created in the fall of 2012. The purpose of this series is to inspire and encourage students to become better readers, stronger writers, and more informed citizens by exposing them to noted authors within the literary world. Students hear from speakers who have followed their dreams and pursued careers doing something they love. Hopefully, our students will develop a deeper appreciation for the written word and a realization that books need to be an important part of their lives not just at Jackson Prep but for the rest of their lives.

Prep has hosted notable writers, including Pulitzer Prize-winning novelists, a former United States Poet Laureate, a National Book Award winner, a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, and a two time Pulitzer Prize finalist cartoonist.

Great writers do not just happen; they are the result of a journey and we, at Prep, want to do all we can to inspire students as they begin their own journeys.
