Travel Opportunities

In Spring 2017 the Visual Arts Department faculty sponsored "Illustrating Italy," a trip to Rome, Florence, Venice and Siena, Italy. Twenty members of the Jackson Prep community - students, parents, employees - traveled by bus, plane, boat and van around Italy. The nine-day tour included stops at Classical, Renaissance and Byzantine art and architecture. The schedule included built-in time to sketch with the art supplies that every traveler received. Following the trip, a show of art work - paintings, sketches, posters, drawings and photographs - all created by Prep's Italy travelers, was held in the Mary Katharine Loyacono McCravey Gallery.

National Art Honor Society

Jackson Prep's chapter of the National Art Honor Society was chartered in 2016. Open to art students whose grades qualify them and who participate in a selection process, the NAHS offers recognition to those students who excel in the visual arts and who seek to serve the arts community at Prep and beyond. Membership is open to visual art students in 10th grade and above. National Art Honor Society members wear the NAHS honor cord at graduation.
