Global Leadership Travel

Jackson Prep’s Global Leadership Institute (GLI) strongly believes globalization is here to stay, and student leaders who want to work in our interconnected global world should have an opportunity to travel abroad.

Learning how to interact with people from other countries and cultures equips future leaders with an advantage prior to attending college.
Prep’s GLI summer trips are the most effective and accessible means for students to develop needed global leadership skills because it pushes students to get out of their comfort zone to experience another culture, language, environment, and education system. It teaches students to appreciate difference and diversity firsthand, and enables them to recognize — and then dismiss — stereotypes they may have held about people they had never met.

Learning how to interact with people from other countries and cultures equips future leaders in all sectors to address urgent issues — from curing diseases and finding energy solutions, to fighting terrorism and hunger — shared across borders.

Jackson Prep’s GLI travels each summer to a different destination and strives to end the tour at a two-day Leadership Summit which brings teachers and student leaders from around the world together to learn the “Design Problem Solving Technique” and to tackle an issue posed by the conference. Each year a new topic and destination is selected. Past locations include China, Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, and London. In the summer of 2018 a group of over 20 students will travel to Japan and Taiwan. Through this travel our students will have a positive effect on our world and a life-changing global leadership experience.
